Our President's Priorities

I am saddened by one of the blogs that I follow for her crafts has a post titled Feeling Hopeful with a picture of her baby in a onesie with Obama's picture on it. I have said before that I don't plan for this blog to be political but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. It seems that our new president isn't as concerned about our economy as he says he is. While companies are laying off thousands of people his first priority was not to do something to bolster the economy but to over-turn something that would keep our AMERICAN tax dollars from funding abortions overseas. Read below the article from Family Research Counsel...

After granting a 24-hour stay on the execution of the unborn, President Obama delivered today on his promise of taxpayer-funded promotion of abortion. This afternoon, the new administration inked the order overturning the "Mexico City policy" and unleashing millions of federal dollars to international abortion groups. Of course, it was no accident that the new president postponed the act until the last possible minute on Friday, knowing the repeal would be buried in the weekend headlines. Issuing it now means that even the presidential blackberry will get more media coverage than his international abortion bailout. The end of "Mexico City" is nothing less than a tragedy for the world's poor. For more on this and other events of this week, watch the video I've recorded which can be seen at frcblog.com.

It seems that he is more concerned with pleasing the abortion industry than taking steps to keep American dollars at home where they are needed. Well I guess America got the president they wanted. How ironic that the blog lady I mentioned has her baby dressed in an Obama onsie while he takes steps to insure that other babies aren't even born.

Lord come quickly!

The Party

Last night was B#1's graduation party. It was a nice small afair at our church. I think everyone had a good time and we only had a couple of bumps in the road...Our family got there early and started decorating. We were putting out things from his childhood and his scrapbook when dad asked where B#1's diploma was, at which point I(mom) start bawling because I couldn't believe I had forgotten it. What a sweet husband I have. Instead of berating me for forgetting it, he hugged me till I was done and then said he would drive all the way home to go get it which is a 20 minute drive each way. The only other issue we had was that the balloons I ordered ended up being way smaller than what I ordered and they lost their umph about half an hour after the party started. Oh well, I guess. The food was great. I originally planned to just serve desserts but B#1 wanted meatballs(what is it about guys and meat?) and one of my dear friends took up his cause and thought that was a great idea so she offered to bring some meatballs. That totally changed the direction of the food but I think the men were happy with it. He got some great gifts and money. Mom and Dad got him a stethoscope to use in school since he is going into the Paramedic field and I think with the money he got he is hoping to order an EMT responder kit. All in all it was a good night. And I still can't believe I am old enough to have a college student:)

Seasons of Life

Sometimes I just think about my life and I am just so amazed that I am old enough to have been married for almost 19 years...and then I think about how my oldest has just graduated from homeschooling and has started college classes this week...and then I start to think about how we have a new baby coming in just a matter of weeks. Amazing!!! One is slowly leaving the nest as one is slowly working on arriving. Only by the Grace of God can these things be happening! Children truly are the heritage of the Lord and we have been so blessed to walk through these times. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

This is a baby blanket that I crocheted for the new baby. I decided to have cream and brown as the nursery colors. Usually I mess up every baby blanket that I try to crochet since I am a self-taught crocheter(is that even a word?). The last two blankets that I tried to make are used by my girls as shawls around the house when they are cold. But this pattern turned out to be very easy and I was able to finish it quickly, which is good for my short attention span. There is supposed to be a brown ribbon weaved through the edges but I haven't made it to the fabric store to pick any up yet.

Here is B#1 all dressed in his uniform and ready to leave for his second night of EMT class. Not only did I have to let him go to college but his class had to be 30 miles from home on roads he really hadn't driven too much. I just have to keep praying for the Lord's protection over him! All in all, wonderful seasons of life.
