My Time in History
Baby, toddler, older sister and I stayed home from church today due to colds in the little ones and as I was enjoying nursing and rocking the baby I got to thinking about things. I am so thankful that the Lord put me where I am in history....our woodstove is for heat, not for cooking. I don't have to wonder if it is the right temperature for baking or if it isn't burning enough or if it is burning too much. Our kitchen stove keeps pretty regular temperature so I can just throw something in there and forget about it for a while. My bosch mixer can knead my bread for lunch all by itself while I walk away to do something else. My potato soup for lunch today can simmer on low on my stove top while I go throw in a load of laundry that can wash all by itself while I go and sit and enjoy nursing my baby. The old ways are good and fun to experience sometimes for a short time but I am thankful to the Lord for the time in history that he put my in. I enjoy appliances that can make my day to day life easier. How about you? What are some of your favorite time-saving appliances?

If You Give a Mom a Muffin
If You Give A Mom A Muffin
(Based on "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Numeroff)
If you give a Mom a muffin,
She'll want a cup of coffee to go with it.
She'll pour herself some.
The coffee will get spilled by her three year old.
She'll wipe it up.
Wiping the floor, she will find some dirty socks.
She'll remember she has to do some laundry.
When she puts the laundry in the washer,She'll trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan dinner for tonight.
She will get out a pound of hamburger.
She will look for her cookbook (101 Things to Make With a Pound of Hamburger).
The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill which is due tomorrow.
She will look for her checkbook.
The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two year old.
She'll smell something funny.
She'll change the two year old. While she is changing the two year old the phone will ring.
Her four year old will answer it and hang up.
She remembers that she wants to phone a friend to come for coffee on Friday.
Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup.
She will pour herself some.
And chances are......
If she has a cup of coffee......
Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it

What is it and what should I do with it?
Yesterday for B#3's birthday we girls had a girls day out, along with baby of course. While we were at one of the fabric stores in town I spotted this brown thing. I have no idea what it is but I liked it so I decided to ask one of the ladies who works there what they were going to do with it. She told me I could take it if I wanted it and even had some guys load it into my van for me. Good thing I have this huge van:) Of course B#1 thinks that most of the things that I like should be food for our wood stove but I like it. So now my quandry is..."what should I do with it?" The shelves are slanted so it wouldn't work as a book case unless I lay books down on it so you can see the fronts. I thought I could pound out the small wooden pieces that split up the shelves but again...what is my goal? So I thought I would ask for suggestions from my readers and see what we can come up with. Leave me a comment or just plain email me if you have my address. I can't wait to hear some great suggestions.

The Dino Guy
I can't wait!! On September 12-13, 2008 Dr. Chittick will be coming to speak at Valley Bapstist Church!
Last year when he came I had no idea who he was or what he was going to be talking about. Listening to him just about blew my socks off! Dr. Chittick is a creationist who is a firm beleiver in Christ, loves to prove the evolutionist wrong using the Bible and not only believes that dinosaurs once existed but can prove that a few still do exist! I remember when he first mentioned that dinosaurs still existed; there were a lot of raised eyebrows and a few people laughed at the thought. He also likes to give real proof that the great flood really did happen, there never were cave men, that we're actually heading towards another ice-age rather than global warming and all sorts of other really neat things. He shows some really amazing pictures too. I hope he'll show it again this year, but last year he showed a video of a dinosaur that does still exist in the dark Congo jungle in Africa. It's rarely seen because it's so hard to penetrate the jungle. The natives who live in the jungle call it mohele-mbembe (moe-heelee- mem-bem-bay). It was amazing.
I highly recommend coming if you are within driving distance. You will definitely not regret it!
The address to our church is
2631 NE McDonald Lane
McMinnville, Oregon 97128
And it's September 12-13. On the 12th it will be from 7:00-9:00 pm
On the 13th it will be 9:00- 12 noon.
I really hope to see you there!!
