I Love My State...however
Our family has loved living here in Oregon for the last 20 years. Here where we are it is always green and the summers are not unbearably hot. We live most of the summer without air conditioning, the evenings are so cool and the rain isn't as bad as people imagine it to be. God made a beautiful place when He created Oregon...However, the politics in our state are atrocious. It has always been a liberal state but lately things have been stepped up a bit. I am not on Facebook to share this but I felt that some how it needs to get out so I will do my very small part and share it here.
This is an article I received in my email this morning:
http://heidistjohn.com/blog/current-events/devastating-distraction-the-snare-of-offense
Please read it. Not only does it share what Governor Kate Brown is doing in our state but there are also lessons here for us as Christians. Feel free to share the article. Also in the last few days Gov. Brown has passed into law that guns may be confiscated if the owner is thought to be a threat to themselves or others . Our liberties are being taken away bit by bit while we aren't watching. What can we do? Pray, pray, pray! Teach our children to pray. When it feels like government is stepping on our every freedom we need to show our children by example to turn to the Lord!

Please Read and Pray for this family
I am working in my head on a new post but in the meantime....if you get to read this in time, please pray for this family. This could happen to any one of our families.

The hearing is in about an hour and a half from now so if you do read it in time please pray for God's justice and protection of the children.

CPS Still in Charge After Hearing on Gestapo Style Baby Snatching

On April 29, 2013, a hearing took place regarding theGestapo style abduction by Child Protective Services of 5 month old baby Sammy after his parents, Alex and Anna Nikolayev, took him out of Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento.
They left Sutter Memorial in order to seek a second opinion at Kaiser Permanente, a rival hospital, for Sammy’s flu-like symptoms.
Anna and Alex sought medical treatment at Kaiser because they were extremely concerned about the quality of care baby Sammy was receiving at Sutter Memorial.
When doctors at Sutter Memorial began discussing the possibility of heart surgery for the infant, the alarmed parents took the baby and left as the medical staff would not discharge Sammy so they could seek another opinion regarding the child’s heart murmur.
“If we got the one mistake after another, I don’t want to have my baby have surgery in the hospital where I don’t feel safe,” Anna said.
She added, ”We went from one hospital to another. We just wanted to be safe, that he is in good hands.”
While at the second hospital, medical staff determined Sammy was fine. The attending doctor at Kaiser said in a written statement, “I do not have concern for the safety of the child at home with his parents.”
Despite the all clear from the medical staff at Kaiser, CPS escorted by armed police showed up at the Nikolayev’s home the next day and took baby Sammy in outrageous and dramatic fashion.
Anna’s home video of the incident shows police entering the home.
“I’m going to grab your baby, and don’t resist, and don’t fight me ok?” a Sacramento police officer is heard saying in the video.
Prior to abducting the baby without so much as a warrant, Alex was slammed against a wall, pushed to the ground and his house keys forcibly removed from him after meeting with officers outside.
Worst of all, after taking the baby, CPS returned the child to the protective custody of the exact same hospital the parents had originally fled to seek a second medical opinion – Sutter Memorial – for wanting to perform unnecessary open heart surgery on the infant.
Court Hearing a Slap in the Face to Parent Rights
The Nikolayevs can now see Sammy whenever they want. They also supposedly now have full control over the child’s medical decisions.
In reality, however, the Nikolayevs are still under the thumb of CPS and their rights as parents continue to be violated.
Rather than the child returning home where the parents would continue under the care of medical staff at Kaiser Permanente which was their original choice, baby Sammy was transferred by court order to yet a third hospital – Stanford Medical Center.
The judge also ruled that Anna and Alex must follow all medical advice from now on, including not taking their child from Stanford Medical Center without proper discharge.
Why are Anna and Alex being forced to follow the medical advice of Stanford Medical Center and not the medical staff at Kaiser Permanente who determined the child was safe at home for the time being?
Why is this child still in the hospital and not at home and under the supervision of the medical staff the parents originally chose?
Most alarming, Child Protective Services is still involved with this case even after its Gestapo style abduction of the child as captured on home video.
While Sammy will be returned to the custody of his parents upon discharge from Stanford Medical Center, CPS will continue to monitor the situation with regular home visits by a social worker.
Why is CPS being permitted by the court to monitor this child when the parents did nothing wrong?
Inexplicably, Alex and Anna are still vulnerable to future action by CPS for the “crime” of seeking the medical care for Sammy that they saw fit.
Welcome to Soviet Amerika comrades.

A Good Example of Why We Need a Parental Rights Amendment
|

Second Opinion? We're Taking Your Child
One would think having the
approval of a doctor and even clearance from the local police would be enough
to protect a parent from having their baby taken away over cries of “medical
neglect.” In this case, one would be wrong.Anna and Alex Nikolayev of Sacramento lost custody of their 5-month-old son last week when they decided to seek a second opinion before having the baby undergo heart surgery. Though a second doctor found it safe to release the boy into their custody, and though an investigating officer also cleared the family to go home, the child was taken the next day.
Timeline of Events
Little Sammy has had a heart
murmur since birth, which the parents have been closely monitoring along with
a doctor at Sutter Memorial Hospital. So when Sammy developed flu-like
symptoms a couple of weeks ago, his parents took him to Sutter again as a
precaution. During his stay, a couple of incidents occurred that concerned
the parents (such as administrating an anti-biotic to fight his virus). So
when Sammy was put in the pediatric intensive care and talk turned to heart
surgery, the parents wanted a second opinion.Unable to secure release from the doctors at Sutter Memorial, the parents took Sammy from the hospital anyway – prompting an automatic call to Child Protective Services and the Sacramento Police – and drove straight to neighboring Kaiser-Permanente Hospital. Doctors there determined that Sammy was healthy enough to go home with his parents. The doctor noted in his report that he saw no cause for concern in leaving Sammy in Anna and Alex’s care. (Corrective heart surgery is in Sammy’s future; the parents do not dispute this fact.) Police met the family at Kaiser, checked out the smiling baby, read the doctor’s report, and agreed that Sammy was in no danger. The Nikolayev family was free to go. That was April 23, 2013. The following day, a CPS worker and Sacramento Police arrived at the family’s home and removed the baby, carrying him back to Sutter Memorial, where he was held in “protective custody.” Though the parents got to visit Sammy to feed him three times a day for one supervised hour, they had to wait until Monday for a hearing. By then, coverage had gone international, with media outlets in Germany and in the family’s native Russia paying close attention. Ominously, local ABC station KXTV reports, “CPS said they were overwhelmed with the amount of attention by the media into the case, and could therefore take longer than usual to render a decision on Sammy's fate.” (emphasis added)
How Would the PRA Help?
Traditionally, the Supreme
Court has recognized the “fundamental liberty interest of natural parents in
the care, custody, and management of their child,” found in the Fourteenth
Amendment’s “Due Process” clause. Santosky
v. Kramer, 455 U.S. 745 (1982) This protection, however, has been
lost on Sacramento CPS. It is also being weakened through judicial erosion in
the courts.Passage of the Parental Rights Amendment will provide parents an explicit constitutional protection; otherwise, they’ll have to rely on the courts, hoping they will continue to interpret the Fourteenth Amendment as they traditionally have (but increasingly no longer do). And the PRA will allow organizations like CPS to know exactly what the rules are that they must follow. “The liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their child is a fundamental right. Neither the United States nor any State shall infringe this right without demonstrating that its governmental interest as applied to the person is of the highest order and not otherwise served.” These two sentences would make clear that CPS cannot take a child away unless it is prepared to prove that the child was in danger caused by abuse or neglect. In this case, it would increase the chances that common sense would prevail and baby Sammy would have gotten to stay home safe and sound with his mom and dad.
Action Items
Yesterday the county and the
family's lawyers reached an agreement to return Sammy to his parents' care,
but with stipulations limiting their choices in medical treatment. (See video here.) CPS will
continue to be a part of Sammy's life at least until the next hearing, set
for May 28. While we rejoice in the reunification of this family, we grieve over the unnecessary loss of
liberty this couple has suffered for no reason. We must make
sure such abuses do not continue unchecked. Here is how you can help:1. Share this email and the story of Sammy with everyone you know. Encourage them to support the Parental Rights Amendment and to sign on here. 2. Donate to support ParentalRights.org as we fight to protect the rights of parents like Anna and Alex. Help us make stories like Sammy’s a thing of the past. 3. Stay vigilant. Word is that the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be back in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee this month. Watch for alerts letting you know when and how to focus your energies on stopping that dangerous treaty. Click here for the current appeal to call your senators today. Sincerely, Michael Ramey Director of Communications & Research P.S. – Due to the timely nature of this breaking news story, the Common Core article scheduled for today will be sent on Thursday of this week. |

The Election
Just minutes after hearing the announcement that Obama was re-elected this hymn was running through my mind...
The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand.

Video concerning the "Parental Rights Amendment"
I have posted in the past about the Parental Rights Amendment but if you aren't sure what it is please go to www.parentalrights.org and read about it and why we need a Parental Rights Amendment. There is also a section to read about the myths concerning the Convention for the Rights of the Child. Of course the title of it sounds good. Who wouldn't want to protect children but it isn't about protecting children as much as it is about taking away the rights of the parents to raise their children as they see fit. If our country chooses to follow other countries by allowing the CRC to be made law in America things will get even worse than they appear to be now. Please take the time to watch this clip and even visit parentalrights.org.

Memorial Day
As we celebrate today, Memorial Day, let us revisit the famous quote by John F. Kennedy....
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
As Obama pushes us further and further towards a socialist country where he and people in his office push for taxpayers to fund everything from abortion to healthcare (so musicians and artists can quite their jobs without worry of not having healthcare) we must not forget those words.

Unreal video about Nancy Pelosi
Be sure to hop on over to Ronny Cooksey's blog, over on the left of the screen there, to see Nancy Pelosi encouraging "musicians and artists" to quit their jobs and follow their dream without having to worry about health insurance now that we tax payers can just take care of that for them.

Just in case you didn't know the facts...like me
Serving Time for Serving Others
In the last 18 days, the impression given by news reports out of Haiti , has turned a group of well-intentioned Baptists into the villains of an elaborate plot to kidnap Haitian children for money. This couldn't be more wrong. As more facts surface about the incident, it is becoming clear that this team of missionaries wasn't operating outside the law at all. Instead, this group was the victim of a local government in complete and utter shambles. Thanks to our friends at the Liberty Institute, which is representing one of the men on the trip, the team did apply to take the children to the Dominican Republic and even passed through the appropriate checkpoints.
Unfortunately for the missionaries, their paperwork was never processed-mainly because the government was operating in a state of total disarray. When they finally did get to the border, officials told them they needed more documentation, so the group made a trip back to Port-au-Prince to "sort things out." They were arrested on the spot, despite statements from the children's parents that they consented to the team's care. As of today, these 10 members of the Central Valley and East Side Baptist Churches will have been in jail for more than two and a half weeks-without a peep from the U.S. State Department. Just to be clear, these are some of the worst prisons in the entire hemisphere. In fact, U.S. officials have called the Haitian cells the "sewers of hell" with conditions so deplorable that they violate the country's human rights obligations. Making matters worse, two of the team's members are just teenagers who joined the mission because they felt compelled to help.
Although a local judge granted a release to eight of the missionaries this afternoon, one is in the hospital and the other is still waiting for help from the American government. The fallout from this misunderstanding has been devastating for the children of Haiti, many of whom are in critical medical condition. International pilots and missionary organizations have suspended their airlifts for fear that they too will be arrested for kidnapping. With only a few kids a day reaching the U.S. for care, hundreds of others are dying--all because this group was wrongly accused. You can help! Contact your congressmen and ask them to intervene with the State Department and Haitian government--not only for the remaining Christians but for the sake of every hurting child.

Just in Case You Didn't Know
I do plan on doing a post soon about us and what we are up to but in the mean time I just had to post another(yes another) political post in case you didn't know this....We all need to know what our government is doing...
If It Ain't Broke, Keep Spending
Who needs a joke book for Christmas when there's a new report on stimulus spending? Just in time for Recovery Act 2.0, Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) have unloaded an eye-popping list of the 100 worst abuses of the $787 billion stimulus. Sure, we can all sleep easier knowing that the government has invested $943,000 in "Dinner Cruise Terror Prevention," but clown ballets? Giant tube art? Costumes for "Bobber the Water Safety Dog?"
One would think this report gives Republicans all the ammunition they need to shoot down another stimulus package, but it looks like President Obama is moving full-steam ahead on a second package worth between $75 and $150 billion more. Despite the amazing mismanagement of the first plan and a rising unemployment rate, the President said, "...[W] e have a shared responsibility to meet our economic challenges on behalf of all Americans: those who elected us to make sure that we're doing the people's business." If by "the people's business," he means developing more golf courses (#5), "talking water gardens" (#64), and Alcatraz boat tours (#56), count us out. Meanwhile, Congress isn't the only one having fun with your taxpayer dollars. So is my staff. Check out The Cloakroom Blog for more highlights from the McCain-Coburn stimulus report in today's post, "My congressman went to D.C. and all I got was this stupid crab pot."

H.R. 3590: Healthcare for the Illegally Employed
In his speech to a joint session of Congress on September 9, 2009, President Obama famously said that the reforms he proposed "would not apply to those who are here illegally." A group of House Democrats who are liberal on the issue immediately fought back. The President initially stood by his remarks and then clarified that the U.S. should then move quickly to legalize the 12 million people in the country here illegally. Currently the House and Senate health care bills include mandates that are expected to help about one million illegal immigrants receive health care coverage from their employers, who are illegally employing them. This according to the Center for Immigration Studies.

A Fact a Day Keeps H.R. 3962 Away
President Obama says: Eat your vegetables! Believe it or not, Section 2572 of the House bill orders the federal government to regulate vending machines with nutrition labels on items in plain sight before people purchase their food. The measure would also mandate retail food establishments "part of a chain with 20 or more locations" to list calorie counts "on the menu board--including a drive-thru board."

No Insurance? Go to Jail, Do Not Pass Go
Today's fact of the day on the recently passed health care bill, H.R. 3962 is don't have insurance? Pay a fine or go directly to jail. Under the House legislation "Americans who do not maintain acceptable health insurance coverage and who choose not to pay the bill's new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years." This is according to the non-partisan Congressional Joint Tax Committee, which also defines the penalties as a "tax." This applies to all American citizens, thus further breaking the President's promise of "[u]nder my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase." Additionally businesses could be fined up to 8 percent of their payroll if they fail to comply with the government mandate. There are also further penalties, or taxes, for underpayment or for "taking a frivolous position" on the government mandate.

New Hampshire Court orders Christian homeschooled girl to attend public school
Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow - 8/26/2009 4:45:00 PM

Updated 8/27/2009 3:00 PM (Central)
A Christian homeschool girl in New Hampshire has been ordered into government-run public school for having "sincerely held" religious beliefs -- and the Alliance Defense Fund is troubled by the ruling.
The case involves divorced couple Martin Kurowski and Brenda Voydatch and their 10-year-old daughter, Amanda. The couple split in 1999 when they were living in Massachusetts, and the proceedings moved to New Hampshire after Voydatch relocated to that state with her daughter in 2002. Although Voydatch has primary custody over Amanda, both parents agreed to a parenting plan that included joint decision-making responsibility. A court-appointed guardian served as a mediator. A source of contention between the parents has been the mother's decision to home school Amanda since first grade. Amanda's father believes she should be sent to public school, while the mother is adamant about home schooling. Since both parents have failed to reach common ground, the issue moved to the court. The situation was then analyzed by the court-appointed guardian, who made a recommendation to the court. During the evaluation process it was determined that Amanda was excelling in her schooling and used curriculum that was approved by her school district. The curriculum used in her home schooling was created by certified teachers, and Amanda routinely took standardized tests. Furthermore, Amanda attended her local public school to take art, Spanish, and P.E. classes. Her public school instructors also commented on the fact that Amanda was well-rounded in her social skills. But a sticking point arose concerning Voydatch's Christian faith. The court order stated: "According to the guardian ad litem's further report and testimony, the counselor found Amanda to lack some youthful characteristics. She appeard to reflect her mother's rigidity on questions of faith." The guardian noted that during a counseling session, Amanda tried to witness to the counselor and appeared "visibly upset" when the counselor purposefully did not pay attention. The guardian also noted that Amanda's relationship with her father suffered because she did not think he loved her as much as he said he did due to the fact that he refused to "adopt her religious beliefs." According to the court order, the guardian concluded that Amanda's "interests, and particularly her intellectual and emotional development, would be best served by exposure to a public school setting in which she would be challenged to solve problems presented by a group learning situation and...Amanda would be best served by exposure to different points of view at a time in her life when she must begin to critically evaluate multiple systems of belief and behavior."
Furthermore the court order states that despite Amanda's mother insisting that her daughter's religious beliefs were her own, "it would be remarkable if a ten-year-old child who spends her school time with her mother and the vast majority of all her other time with her mother would seriously consider adopting any other religious point of view." Although the court noted that it "is extremely reluctant to impose on parents a decision about a child's education," it ruled that Amanda must attend public school. Alliance Defense Fund-allied attorney John Anthony Simmons has filed a motion to reconsider. He says this ruling is dangerous to home schoolers because it will set a precedent for other cases. "Every time you have a court order that uses a wrong standard or misapplies constitutional law, everyone's rights are eventually at stake," the attorney explains. "Because what happens with precedent is it gets expanded -- it gets cited in other cases." Simmons believes this case goes beyond the initial divorce and custody battle with this ruling because the standard used in the decision contained in the court order is troubling. He contends that the child's religion should not have played a role in the decision, and that the court should have focused solely on the academic merits of Amanda's education which proved to be excellent.

Parental Rights
A parent’s right to raise their children as they see fit is a time-honored American tradition, but today it is being threatened. The Supreme Court’s Troxel v. Granville decision in 2000 undermined a 75-year heritage of Constitutionally-protected, fundamental parental rights, which 8 of the 9 justices abandoned. At the same time, a growing body of international law fuels activist judges to legislate foreign standards from the American bench, while treaties such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child would subject parental decisions to government oversight and international review.
Rep. Pete Hoekstra (MI-2) has proposed HJR-42, the Parental Rights Amendment, to stop the erosion of parental rights in American courts while simultaneously defending our laws from international invasion. Please, visit parentalrights.org to learn more about the Amendment, and to join their email network by signing the petition to protect parental rights.

Obama's tax cuts
Obama Taxes America's Patience
While you would never know it from the mainstream media, President Obama's approval ratings are the second worst for any President after 100 days in forty years. Only Bill Clinton's numbers were worse--and by one percentage point! That outlook is unlikely to improve once taxpayers realize the impact of this week's budget resolution. Not only are they on the hook for the President's $3.5 trillion plan, but their middle-income tax cuts--a signature promise of Obama's candidacy--were dropped from the budget package to make room for the administration's radical social policies. Now that the President has committed Americans to roughly $10 trillion of government spending, he has quietly decided not to extend the middle-income tax relief beyond this year. In February, the stimulus package included a tax credit that provided $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples. Now it appears this "relief" will be a one-time affair. Faced with the decision to keep his word to 95% of Americans or scrap it in favor of his aggressive social agenda, President Obama (much like Bill Clinton after 1992) chose the latter. Why is the middle class not being allowed to keep its modest tax break? To paraphrase Willie Sutton, who was asked why he robbed banks, it's because "that's where the money is." The middle-class tax cut mirage is fading quickly as we approach Obama's first summer in office. A quote by Thomas Jefferson
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks....will deprive the people of all property until their children wakeup homeless on the continent their fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
