You Know you have a College Student....

You know you have a college student when you have to say "Please come and remove the sheeps brain from the laundry room shelf so I can do the laundry."

In Which we all are sick

It all started with the baby....5:30am, throwing up. Ugh! But it wasn't too bad. I hoped that would be the end of it. Not to be.

Fast forward a couple of days. About 1pm B#8 says he doesn't feel too good. About 1:30 mom thinks, "hmmm, I don't feel too good". Not long after dad sends a text from work, "Anyone else feeling bad?".  After that they start dropping like flies, one after another. Within 4 hours 9 out of the 11 of us were sick, the baby having already been sick. Only B#3 seemed to be escaping. We all fought for bathrooms while she proceeded to sauté her dinner in coconut oil...Ugh! We were praising the Lord that she was well. She cleaned up more throw-up than she ever has. Practice, I tell her, for being a Paramedic. But even she, eventually, fell to it later in the night.

Ten people sick with 3 bathrooms. There were times when it was comical in its own way. Two of the boys were throwing up into the same potty at the same time! One of the kids got tired of waiting and went outside.

But today, the sun is up. We are all mostly better, tired, but better. Eating the comfort foods of sickness...saltine crackers, 7-up and jello.

Oh and Praise the Lord for Zofran!

Sunday

B#11 and I stayed home from church today with B#5 who seems to be having some sort of allergic reaction to something. I wanted to share a couple of things that spoke to me today.

I have been enjoying listening to B#2's pastor's sermons on the internet. If you have time I would encourage you to listen to This sermon. I have listened to it twice already. I have been convicted of my words and am praying for the Holy Spirit to help me to change.

Hope you all have a wonderful Lord's Day today!

Mother's Day and a Movie Review

I had lots of intentions about taking pictures of my lovely flowers and my shiny red van after mother's day to show you but as with many good intentions...it didn't happen and here it is over a week later and I am just now even writing about it.

I had a good Mother's Day. DH surprised me with flowers and a yummy breakfast of croissants, chocolate covered strawberries, pineapple and tea before we headed off to church. Then we had a relaxing day at home. I took a walk with the kiddos and then later had a nice long stroll all by myself.  Then we had a yummy dinner of Salmon patties, which are a new favorite of mine. We fry them in coconut oil which gives them a really yummy flavor. Can you tell that I had a Yummy Mother's Day???  I think we finished up the evening watching a bit of Downton Abbey that they had gotten me for my birthday just a couple of weeks earlier.

You might wonder why I mention my shiny red van in my Mother's Day post...well, that is because every year I ask for my van to get washed, waxed and cleaned out. That is no small task with a 15 passenger van, especially one whose red paint tends to fade to an unattractive pink after a while of not being washed. So I love it when it is all shiny red and clean.

Now, about the "movie review". DH picked up a movie from the church library on Sunday and I must admit that I wasn't so sure I wanted to watch it. It does have Cuba Gooding Jr in it so I thought that might make it better. Well, I will admit that I LOVED it...I am not a huge movie fan. We like to watch movies in the evenings though once the younger kiddos are in bed, since we don't watch TV during the day. So for me to love a movie is usually saying something. It is the true story of Dr. Ben Carson who was the first Neurosurgeon to successfully separate twins joined at the brain. Apparently he came from a poor background with a single mother who couldn't read but she was such a huge encouragement in his(and his brother's) life that he became a world famous neurosurgeon. AND he gives glory to God for his abilities. It is called "Gifted Hands". I would encourage all of you to watch it. It does have one swear word in it and I wouldn't say it is for the younger crowd but I would let my 12 year old on up watch it.
