Stepping back in time
Last week my sisters and I went exploring on our neighbors 98 acres of unused property; talk about FUN!! We were actually supposed to be helping B#1 hack blackerries but there was only one machete and four of us so us girls wandered. Not too far from where big brother was working we knew there was a big old barn, so we went to check that out. We had been there before but the barn is so overgrown with blackberries that we didn't try very hard to get in. We resolved to try as hard as possible this time. We looked and looked but the only possible entrance was through the windows. I gently pushed on one and to my suprise it moved pretty easily. B#4 and I worked with it until finally it came out! So we now have an entrance... but how do we get in? The window was about 4 feet up and we had nothing to stand on. Gritting my teeth I kneeled down and told B#4 to use my leg as a step stool. Yowch did that hurt! Next question, how do I get in? Well after many attempts I finally got in but I had to jump to get up and I lost my balance and went falling down through the window and into the barn. I was okay, a few scrapes on my hands was all I got but at least I was in. We made things easy for B#3 and handed her a bucket to use.
The barn was amazing. Everything in there was really, really old. We found some goat and cattle stanchions. a few kidding stalls, a super neat hay loft and of course lots of old junk. It was kinda' creepy in there though. It was so dark that we had to use a flashlight and at one point I had a whole bunch of mice scurrying around my feet. No I did not freak out; I happen to like mice (as long as they don't get into the animal feed). We go up there sometimes and do some machete-ing (how do you spell that word?)so we don't have to keep going through the window.:)
So now you know what we do when were bored: we go flying through windows, get ourselves all dirty, hack blackberries with a dull machete and laugh a lot. :)
