This One and That One

Since the little boys are so close in age and need lots of attention the girls and I have found ourselves saying things like..."you take this one and I will take that one". So we have taken to calling them "this one" which is B#8 and "that one" which is B#7. We don't do it all the time for fear that they will think that is their names:) B#7 already responds quite willingly "Pookie".

While you would never know it from the mainstream media, President Obama's approval ratings are the second worst for any President after 100 days in forty years. Only Bill Clinton's numbers were worse--and by one percentage point! That outlook is unlikely to improve once taxpayers realize the impact of this week's budget resolution. Not only are they on the hook for the President's $3.5 trillion plan, but their middle-income tax cuts--a signature promise of Obama's candidacy--were dropped from the budget package to make room for the administration's radical social policies. Now that the President has committed Americans to roughly $10 trillion of government spending, he has quietly decided not to extend the middle-income tax relief beyond this year. In February, the stimulus package included a tax credit that provided $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples. Now it appears this "relief" will be a one-time affair. Faced with the decision to keep his word to 95% of Americans or scrap it in favor of his aggressive social agenda, President Obama (much like Bill Clinton after 1992) chose the latter. Why is the middle class not being allowed to keep its modest tax break? To paraphrase Willie Sutton, who was asked why he robbed banks, it's because "that's where the money is." The middle-class tax cut mirage is fading quickly as we approach Obama's first summer in office. Birthdays and Babies

Boy, it has been a long time since I posted anything but that certainly doesn't mean nothing has been going on around here. Just that I haven't had time to sit and blog. We have all been busy in the past weeks with birthdays, babies, gardening and sewing. The first birthday was B#1's 18th birthday. I still can not believe that I am old enough to have an 18 year old or that I have been married long enough to have an 18 year old. It still feels like maybe 10 years. God is Good! We had quite a big splurge for B#1's birthday. A usual eating out time for our family usually consists of Wendy's where we can usually get out of there spending less than $30 for our family of 10(9 that actually require food from the menu) but we wanted to take him out for a nice birthday dinner so after DH and I tried out some different places we decided on a place at the beach. We had a good time and some good food, went to the outlet mall and then walked on the beach.

Next we celebrated my birthday. I was instructed to pick up a cake mix and some candles since I was the one going into town on the day we decided to celebrate. I thought I would be funny and pick up the number candles instead of the straight ones so I bought a 2 and a 9 so that I could be 29 instead of 37 but DH, funny guy that he is, is always funnier than I am and quicker to the punch so he decided that I could be 92 instead of 29! I would put a picture on here of the cake but I can't find it on my camera card. Oh well.

Baby, as we still call him, is now 6 weeks old. What a chunk he has gotten to be in the past couple of days. He has slept for 5-6 hours straight for the last two nights which has been so nice for me. I was getting up with him every two hours, sometimes only getting an hour of sleep in between so 5 or 6 hours is such a blessing.

B#7 is doing better with it all lately but it has taken lots of consistency on our part, which can be hard when you are nursing a baby. He sure loves the baby but isn't too sure that he loves it when mom is holding baby. Here is a picture of his crocs which he absolutely adores. He asks for them to be put on as soon as he wakes up and we have to pry them off at nap time.

The girls have been busy sewing. B#2 and B#3 are making dresses for an upcoming ball that they are going to and B#4 has been busy helping a dear friend of ours to sew her ball dress. She did find time in there on the sewing machine to make this dress for B#6, which turned out great...

Obama Youth Brigade: Church Attendance Forbidden

Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.
This bill’s title is called “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education” (GIVE). It forms what some are calling “Obama’s Youth Brigade.” Obama’s plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.
The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in “engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.” That means no church attendance or witnessing.
Again, is this what America voted for? Here is part of the HR1388 Bill’s wording:
SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows:
SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:
(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.…
(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.
